Things to Do at Palo 32°

Mornings at Palo 32° are meant to be slow. Take a walk along the trails before the day gets going, or spend the first hour with coffee outside before the sun gets serious. September still delivers on pool time, and the mornings are comfortable enough to actually enjoy being outdoors at this Texas retreat.

Where It ALL Started

Clay and Holly Trantham weren't looking to build a business so much as fill a gap they kept running into themselves. Based in Fort Worth and familiar with the land west of the metroplex, they saw something in Strawn that most people drive past: a stretch of Palo Pinto County quiet enough to actually slow down in, close enough not to lose a whole weekend getting there.

Three years ago, that idea became a place. What started as an answer to something missing has grown into a retreat built around a simple premise: that couples need room to disconnect without needing to go far to find it.

Three Years In

That's still what we strive for with every couple who books a stay. It's the goal behind every detail, every season, every improvement we've made along the way.

And three years in, we're doing it. Countless guests have made their way out to Palo Pinto County to slow down, unplug, and spend real, uninterrupted time together, under open sky, with evenings that move at their own pace and mornings with nowhere else to be. That's the experience we set out to build, and three years later, it's the one we keep showing up for, one stay at a time.

Palo 32° sits in the open terrain of Palo Pinto County, just off I-20 and under two hours from the metroplex. Palo Pinto Mountains State Park is hosting their Star-Spangled Sky event on the evening of July 4th, just a short drive from the property. It is a fitting way to mark the occasion in a place this connected to the land. And when you make it back, the night sky at Palo 32° is the real thing. Wide, dark, and full in a way that is genuinely hard to find this close to a major city. Some of the best stargazing in the region happens right here, and July is a fine month to find out.

The park covers nearly 5,000 acres of Cross Timbers terrain with hiking trails, fishing, and kayaking on Tucker Lake. It's a quick drive from Palo 32° and a perfect way to spend a summer morning before heading back to the property to cool off.
